iPhone vs Nokia 5800
The iPhone looks the part with its sleek style and does not feel cheap, where as the Nokia 5800 looks OK but feels very plastic.
Camera
The iPhone 3GS Offers a new 3MP – Nokia’s 5800 3MP, iPhone’s Camera offers autofocus and a photo application that makes it easy to share, you can even Purchase Photoshop, compare this to Nokia’s 5800 3.15MP, auto focus Carl Zeiss optics, geotagging. The Nokia 5800 is slightly better but being able to use Photoshop on the iPhone makes the iPhone the winner.
iTunes v Ovi Store
With the Nokia 5800 you are able to download thousands of Applications, Themes, Games, Audio/Video and Ringtones.
iPhone have the world renowned iTunes Store where there is over 120,000 applications, Themes, Games, Audio/Video and Ringtones.
There is also the cost of getting items from either Ovi or iTunes store, the obvious difference between OVI and iTunes, is OVI charges a lot more for there products with some FREE, iTunes as applications from around 50p and has hundreds if not thousands for FREE.
Maps
Over the years you have had to pay for Satellite Navigation, but Nokia have announced that there OVI Maps will be FREE, have they started something here I don’t think so because none of the big manufacturers of Satellite Navigation have followed there suit, so for a decent Satellite Navigation System on the iPhone you will still have to pay for it. However there are FREE Sat Nav systems out there for the iPhone.
Memory & Processor
The iPhone comes in with 256mb Ram and 600Mhz CPU and comes with no external memory but there are an 8gig, 16gig and 32gig iPhone , the Nokia 5800 comes 81meg internal memory, with 256 RAM, CPU 434 with Firmware updates and removable up to 16GB.
Conclusion
Overall both the iPhone and Nokia 5800 compare very well against each, with each having its advantages over each other, so I will leave this down to you the reader which you prefer, for me it is very close, but I choose the iPhone.
